On Friday, my physical therapist spent most of my session working on my hip flexors, using a deep tissue massage to loosen up my muscles. It burned so badly, but just breathing and talking through it helped. Once she was done, there was a release in the muscles and my flexibility was so much better! That afternoon, I was actually able to get on my knees and touch my butt to my heels! She also told me I can start doing exercises at home, like downward dog, child's pose, and even planks! And soon- lunges! It's crazy what you can do with a broken hip!
Yesterday my hip felt so good that I accidentally took a step without using my crutches. When I realized what I could do, I called Ben over to see. I think he was more scared than excited for me, but cheered me on none the less. He does keep reminding me that my surgeon said to keep the crutch til my limp is gone. I am mostly just using 1 crutch for the past few days. Two crutches seems to easy, and with one, at least I have a hand to carry things from place to place.
So, here is a video we took this morning. We wanted to document my limp at 9 weeks and see the progress over the next few weeks. Once the limp is gone, I will be crutch free for good!
